Location Description: |
The production plant of the textile industry "Lukara" is located in the narrow industrial zone Bosilegrad, at a distance of about 1 km from the center of Bosilegrad and 12 kilometers from the border crossing Ribarci with the customs terminal. At one time, the plant employed up to 160 workers. The production was based on drying vegetables such as onions, carrots, leeks, parsnips, peppers, potatoes, etc. Dried vegetables are packed in cardboard boxes and nylon bags of 10 kg each, except for carrots, which are packed in quantities of 20 kg. 80% of the entire production was intended for export to the Netherlands, Gecko and Hungary, and 20% for the needs of "Podravka" in Croatia. The equipment of the plant is still in working order today and is given to the investor on a lease together with the plant. There is also a car scale in the factory, as well as a special transformer station built for the needs of the plant. It is in the public ownership of the Municipality of Bosilegrad with a share of 1/1. The production plant "Lukara" was identified as a regional investment opportunity by the project "Link-up Serbia", based on the potential for processing fruits and vegetables, production of medicinal herbs and products from the same. The study of students of the Faculty of Economics in Nis entitled "Production and placement of medicinal plants in the function of the development of border areas with a focus on the territories of the municipalities of Dimitrovgrad, Bosilegrad and Trgoviste" speaks in favor of this possibility. |
